Welcome to the Department of Geosciences
The department consists of disciplines that deal with the complex processes of the Earth and coveraspects of general geology, sedimentology, hydrogeology, petroleum geology, geophysics, petrophysics, geochemistry, petrology and reservoir science.
Our scientists conduct research in areas that aim to investigate geological, hydrogeological and geochemical processes as well as geophysical properties of our earth. The fields of research include the exploration and safeguarding of primary and secondary mineral resources and investigations into hydrogeochemistry. In addition to current analytical methods, geoinformatics and remote sensing data are also used.
Our aim is also the applied, job market-oriented training of young geoscientists and geotechnical engineers with a broad scientific, materials science and technical orientation.
Take a look at our website, where you can find out more about research, teaching, technical equipment and the staff in the individual specialist areas.
Geo-Engineering will be one of the six departments in the new Institute.
More content will follow in the coming months.
